We stayed a little over a month hosted by Bjorn and his daughters.We immediately felt welcome. We had our own room, and we lived with them. The cohabitation was perfect, of course there were house tasks to do but it’s honest since we all live together. Everyday work can be different, which allows you to learn many new things and to walk and explore Jokkmokk. The nature here is incredible. The hotel’s tasks are varied but they involve cleaning, check-in,check-out and hut maintenance. There are weeks when the work is more intense and others when you have more free time. Absolutely recomended:)

First of all I want to state that the host is a really nice and friendly man that is a fact but unfortunately the experience wasn’t good for me. I think the most important thing is to improve the communication. Telling the guests what the situation is and what kind of tasks they have to do. (You’re gonna live with him and his children in his house, cook for them and yourself, look after his house…) I can’t really say much about the working tasks of the hotel because I left after one day out of several reasons. It unfortunately just wasn’t what I was expecting.

Mara seems like a friendly person but unfortunately she put us in a very bad situation when she left after the first night. The problem was that she hadn´t read our profile and expected a big hotel where she should sleep in a hotel room and work in a formal big hotel reception. Not our small family business where you are staying with the family or in a private appartment close by and have common meals together with the family and other worldpackers. We meet and check-in our guests in the nature.
I wish Mara a good stay in her next place.

My experience in volunteering in Sweden was exceptional. Bjorn, the hotel manager, and his family welcomed me with open arms from day one, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Collaborating on the hotel's social media was rewarding. In addition, Bjorn generously allowed me to drive a quad, providing a convenient means for me to explore the village. Moreover, he entrusted me with handling a drone, offering the opportunity to learn and capture breathtaking shots for my videos. Bjorn's openness to share these experiences added an exciting and unique dimension to my time volunteering there.
