Quinta Japonesa

Working in the tranquil setting of Quinta Japonesa, doesn't feel like work. And you help a family making a living. There is a grocery shop/restaurant/cafe nearby just 2,5km and we are 12 km from the nearest city Caldas da Rainha and 20 minutes from the beach Foz do Arelho.

We are a family with 2 young children and have 6 accommodations, and about 3600m2 terrain to be maintained. We ask about 4 hours of work per day and you get a free stay and a free dinner (if you want to).

What can I say about Quinta Japonesa… I very much loved & appreciated my time here. Michelle is a very passionate & caring person who just asks for a hand with the Quinta. She’s a powerful woman doing it all alone! 💕

I was more than happy to help anytime. She also cooked us a delicious lunch EVERYday and honestly my first experience on world packers couldn’t have been better! This is a beautiful region & I’m happy to have witnessed it. I will note is there is a volunteer car, but it’s manual and it’s necessary to get around!

I loved meeting you all and will miss being at the Quinta. ✨

This was a truly incredible experience! Quinta Japanesa gives you the ability to explore Portugal while feeling at home and truly part of a family. Michelle is a truly incredible host who really loves what she does and wants you to feel at home while volunteering here. The workload is a couple hours for 5 days a week which is incredibly fair. You'll help out with gardening, cooking, and really learning what it takes to run her vacation stay location. Each day you share a lunch with Michelle and sometimes even her sons as well. I would absolutely recommend volunteering here its incredible!

my stay at the quinta was an amazing experience. Michelle really welcomed me into the family, including friday pizza/movie nights with her kids Rick and Mica !
The accommodation was incredible, and having access to my own car was beyond expectations and allowed me to explore the area and surf during my time off.
I will always treasure my time spent here ❤️
