The place is perfect to take a break from being a tourist. Contact with local people, plants and animals of the area will change the way you see the country. Relaxed rural area with rivers and vegetation.
I am starting a new project of building a place for woodworking in the woods, basic tool knowledge and building experience is needed. The place is a little bit remote so walking 20 min to go to the store is common.
Acomodation is free in exchange for 3 hours of work, meals are not included but you can get them for an affordable price.

I came at a time just before a transition of hosts so my comment may not be applicable for the current situation! I really enjoyed being disconnected, the nature at the farm and talking with the other volunteers. However, the tasks were very repetitive (collecting leaves everyday) and as there is not much to do in the area, it got a bit boring. The breakfast was delicious every morning and if you're looking for a detox- this is the place; a week is plenty! I think there will be several upgrades with the new host

I had a week and a half at Monte Farm. It was a wonderful experience! I have seen many birds, sloths, and iguanas. The work is very simple and I had a lot of time to explore by bike. Also I went to Chindama, one of the most beautiful waterfalls I had seen in my life. The breakfasts are good too and lunch as well. Finally I learned and spoke a lot of Spanish! Pura vida!

Jennifer was great with communication on the app and using WhatsApp during the stay and answered any questions before and during the trip. The tasks fit my mom’s skills and mine and we had others for team work. This was our first time volunteering and we will do it again, great experience! Thank you

This was a great experience for me. The farm was beautiful and very close to their town square. Not much to do in the town so it’s a great place to come and disconnect. The hosts were more than welcoming and the work was fair. They gave us great suggestions of excursions to do after work and all the information needed to get there. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone

I was welcomed with open arms and always felt very appreciated. This place it perfect for you if you’re looking for a chance to reconnect with nature and spend time with all of the amazing animals here. Jennifer and Mabel are amazing and funny hosts who will always help you if you need anything and make the place feel warm and positive.
