Red Goat Hostel

Welcome to Red Goat! We are a hostel in the heart of Tirana, created by members of the feminist non-profit association Useful for Albanian Women. Our little villa has hosted events for the promotion of women's rights in Albania since the 1990's. Since our renovation in March 2023, apart from being the base center of the association, we now also host travelers from all over the world!

The hostel serves as a cafe and community spot for our neighbors and UAW association members, whom you will get to know during your stay. But mostly you will be working alongside Lora, the hostel's manager and beating heart. Lora was born and raised in Tirana, studied international law in the US, and returned to practice law and participate in activism in Albania. For the past year, she has dedicated herself fully to the hostel project, which is the main funding source for UAW's continued work.

Note: since part of our organization's work is supporting vulnerable women, we need to prioritize creating a safe space for them -- we are therefore only inviting women to volunteer with us at this time. Sorry, boys! :)

Running the small hostel involves the usual tasks of welcoming guests, serving breakfast, keeping the place tidy, and contributing your ideas for how to make it an even better home away from home. Apart from the precious help that the volunteer will provide, we wish to make it an unforgettable experience for them in Albania. We have been very lucky with our interesting, open-hearted hostel guests so far, many of whom choose to stay longer than they planned.
