I had an amazing experience at Reitanlage Winter. The hosts Alison and Wolfgang, along with everyone at the stable made me feel instantly welcomed and at home. The work is fair and enjoyable, as long as you know the basics about horses. Your days off are the same every week, which gives you a chance to plan any trips you want to take in advance. I learnt so much from staying here and I can't recommend it enough!

Alison and Wolfgang were super kind and welcoming and they went out of their way to make sure that I had a good time in Germany. Emilia was also incredibly helpful and made sure I understood everything that I needed to do, as well as patiently answering any questions I had. The town is very cute and it was easy to walk or bike around and take in the beautiful scenery. The only downside of this experience for me was that the room I stayed in was a bit dusty and spidery. Still a great experience overall, and I couldn't ask to stay with nicer hosts :)

I had a great time! Alison and Wolfi are lovely and very welcoming along with the other staff and boarders at the barn which made it easy to settle in and feel at home. Additionally the horses are all well mannered, particularly for their age which really is a testament to the time and care which is put into them ◡̈

Alison was incredibly communicative leading up to me being at the stable, which I greatly appreciated compared to a previous WP experience. She is kind and works to ensure that volunteers are comfortable. The work was just fine and exactly as I expected– tacking up horses and cleaning the barn. It did take me some time to become comfortable with English tack, and Wolfgang had some moments where he was a bit rough with my lack of knowledge. Overall it’s a good experience to learn about a different culture’s way of managing their horses. The stable is in a wonderful location to explore from.

I really enjoyed my time here! It is definitely an experience for someone who wants to fully immerse themselves in the stable life and I truly loved it. I learned a lot and was able to practice riding as well which I really appreciated! The hours are 6:30am-4:30pm but you have a ~2 hour break and a ~3 hour break so the hours were respected. Your days off are completely up to you and you can walk to the bus station. Overall, it was exactly what I wanted and I gained a lot of experience from it. It will definitely help to know about horses beforehand :) Thank you so much Alison and Wolfgang!
