Skye Backpackers

Situated on the West coast of mainland Scotland, Skye is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebridean Islands.
One of Europe’s most dramatic and haunting lands, words can do little justice in describing the awesome beauty of the Isle of Skye. The majestic Cuillin Mountains dominate the rugged landscape, which is peppered with lochs, glens and tiny fishing villages.
Skye Backpackers is located in the picturesque fishing village of Kyleakin and is surrounded by mountains and sea.

We are a fun & friendlly hostel who are always in need of helping hands to keep the place clean, tidy and welcoming for our guests. So what's the deal?

My experience in Skye Backpackers was amazing! The landscape is really beautiful, the hostel is a bit far away from the touristic spots, but it's possible to take a bus or to do hitchhike for everywhere (which was a good opportunity to meet local people), also the view from the hostel is incredible, in front of the sea and mountains and the backyard is also special.
The hostel is very cozy and the best part for me was the volunteer team, we became a family ❤ I wish the best for all of you, thank you very much family Skye 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

This was my first worldpackers experience and it has been so good! Skye is an amazing place, with stunning views, it's a bit difficult to get around without a car (few buses) but most volunteers just hitchhike and there are beautiful places even nearby. I mean, even the walk to the supermarket is spectacular! The working times were always respected and the job was easy (cleaning kitchen and toilets, hoovering, making beds, laundry). But the very best thing was the lovely atmosphere with the team! Come here if you want to connect with nature and meet wonderful people from all over the world 🌟

I loved the place, very good vibes. Alicia and Swinn are very flexible and willing to help. The location is far from the main attractions but if you organize yourself with free time you can catch some buses. Or hitchhike to get there faster. But I had a great time because the group of people was very fun. The nearest supermarket is 45 minutes walking... or you can call a taxi. The tasks are so light or more energetic depending on how you take it! I recommend this place to disconnect and learn how to hitchhike haha. The facilities are very comfortable in my opinion.

Is a good place to be in contact with nature. The tasks are easy peasy lemon squeeze, and if you know how to work in a team are even easier. Kyleakin is a small town, you can hitchhike to go all over Skye (highly recommend this). The staff is nice too and they help you if you fancy visiting another hostel.

I have spent 3 wonderful weeks at Skye Backpackers and it has been great my experience, both with the other volunteers and with the workers. In a short time you make a family and it is one of the things I like most about volunteering. The work is not heavy, it is very fun to share tasks with the rest of the team. The best are the free breakfasts, very abundant, the kitchen and living room as rooms to make a great social life in that small village of Skye. Also the hikes you can do in those stunning landscapes. Thank you guys for making it all so easy and sharing many good stories together!!
