Talus Rock Retreat

Unparalleled hands-on experiential learning with a breadth of knowledge not found in
many other work environments! There is much to learn behind the scenes at this high-end lodging facility. With only six rooms, it's a big nut to crack annually to maintain the property, the business and keep it operating. It is a wonderful place to work with priceless intangibles and rich experiences here if you find this is a 'calling' and not simply a 'job.'

Our staff are a tight knit team of kind, caring, hardworking people who bring the Retreat to life! Our small team absolutely loves the vibe, flexibility, diversity, and amazing people we serve. We lend each other a hand, whether it's covering a shift, blessing each other with lunch, or calling it a day and going for a walk around the grounds, we are there for each other.

I met amazing people!! Everyone was welcoming me and I felt like one of the family member. I worked 4-5 hours a day and had a lot of free time. My task was simple, but if you don’t have anyone to work with, it’s kinda boring. So, I recommend you to go with your friend if it’s allowed. In the beginning, I was a little bit depressed because I had no way to get out from the house, but they let me use the bike and I was able to see around the city. Sandpoint is very beautiful place and I never get tired of going to the beach. It was good balance of work and leisure.

I had one of the best adventures of my life at Talus. Fate brought me there, and everything aligned like musical clockwork. Heather and her team are literally blessed. Nothing needs advertising—you’ll find yourself here if it’s in your cards.

My time at talus has been one to remember. There were many challenges I faced with the new management but it was an opportunity to work on personal growth, communication skills, and patience. I am grateful for everything I have learned and I am very sad to say goodbye to all the friends I made.

We appreciate you, Ava! What a delight to have you extend your stay at Talus Rock Retreat so we could be blessed by your joyful presence for even longer. We'll miss you, as will the chickens and ducks! We are eclectic in all things (design, daily tasks, personalities, ...) and you fit in so well. Going with the flow is definitely necessary in the hospitality field, and you were a champ! Getting out to explore Sandpoint is a part of the fun so we are so glad you ventured out to explore our community too.

Such an amazing opportunity working at TRR. The entire staff is incredibly welcoming and were constantly making sure that I had everything I needed to ensure a good stay. The work load was not difficult just routine house keeping and the hours were reasonable. Sandpoint is a nice small town that’s easy to get around and explore even without a car. I had an amazing time here meeting everyone and connecting with such a nice team of people!
