The Catfarm

Step off-grid and join our collaborative art project and be a part of our purrrfect community. We are a collective of travellers working and growing alongside each other to build and maintain our community in the beautiful southern region of France. This project offers the unique opportunity to learn new skills, showcase your talents, make life-long friends, and build a masterpiece together. We have the equipment to build living structures and are open to all creative input. Our farm sits amongst wide open space near the seaside and just 30 km away from Montpellier. The land allows off-the-grid living and has the potential for a permaculture system to be in place. There is a lot of work to be done on this French farmhouse as well as a large amount of freedom for your own creative direction. It is a place where a community can thrive together whilst working towards achieving sustainability through creative collaboration. Our place gained its name from the many cats that used to be in the area and is hard to miss with the giant cat statue that stands tall above the farmland amidst the picturesque hills in the beautiful region of Poussan in the south of France. NOTES - 4 euro a day for food contribution. - You must be fluent in English - We are vegans Off-the-grid living can be more challenging than what you might be used to and involves problem-solving and patience. But living in a community means we are all in this together, and no problem lasts too long when we work as a team. Our main living area is called The Hanger. This is where we sleep, cook and relax. We require volunteers to be open to alternative ways of living, as you will be sleeping in our shared space, or in a tent or hammock. Bringing a tent will improve your chance of getting a spot, as we have limited beds. Have more needs? For Worldpackers we give a discount on a really cool private accommodation. Please clearly ask this in your first message. HERE ARE OUR AIRBNB ACCOMMODATIONS Tipi https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/26743066 Oldtimer Peugeot 404 https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/23896853

I lived an amazing experience even tho the space was restrain because of the number of people so I had to adapt but I didn't mind, the place is so amazing and the people too that it was a pleasure to be there, expressing myself and feeling safe.

I had a great time at Catfarm. When I was there, a youth exchange program was taking place so it was a specific experience compared to a "normal" staying there. I was volunteering and my tasks were to help organising the event, but I could also participate to the workshops when if I had free time.
Not only was it super fun to meet people from all over Europe, but we learned a lot of things on the topic of permaculture. The staff was super nice, they made me want to try another community in the future. Thanks a lot Catfarm!

This is the best place to be. I would definetely recommend it to every other traveller, who wants to explore an alternative lifestyle. The people there are like family and the atmosphere is great aswell. I stayed there even longer than expected, because it was so much fun.

Being my first worldpackers experience, the Catfarm was way more than I expected. I made friends for life, put my skills to practice, learnt new skills and overall lived amazing experiences that I’ll never forget. I’m and will always be a cat. I’ll for sure come back and I couldn’t recommend the Catfarm more. It is truly an experience to be lived.
