The Golden Stork

We are a small hostel family with the perfect location in the city center of The Hague at a typical Dutch canal. We also have unlimited free coffee, and a cozy dorm to sleep in. Besides all that we have an awesome staff (who will be your new best friends) and they also organize all kinds of activities in or around the hostel. Also really good for a nice conversation (with an optional beer)!

We are two brothers who started our first hostel here in The Hague. We are very involved with the day to day business. We like to help our volunteers out discovering the city and share our knowledge and skills about our coffee culture.

It's been a great experience for me, The Hague is a great city, and this hostel hosts events everyday, which is a great way to meetnew people. The workload is not that much, except on sundays or holidays you are done pretty quickly. It is true that there is not much space in the rooms for a long term stay though, but thats a minor inconvenience. The bad reviews about extra work seem unfair to me, doing 1 or 2 beds or help to gather the terrace tables while you're doing nothing it's not that much. It may be a hussle sometimes but like I said before the workload is light and you get done early.

I felt very welcomed at the hostel, the staff is really friendly, and made my experience a great one!
The working hours are respected and flexible, and the work is not too hard.
The only downside is the size of the rooms, they are quite small and there are no windows.
But it was a great place to meet friends, they have fun activities every night for guests so you always have what to do, if you want to.
The city is amazing, super safe and cozy, with a lot of beautiful places to explore.
I super recommend spending some time there!

The hostel's staff is quite friendly and nice, this was actually the best part of my experience. But the accommodations leave a lot to be desired. There is no staff room, so I had to share very small rooms with at least 6 guests. Also there is no common area where you can do some work or relaxing, the only common space in the hostel is the coffee/bar which is usually very busy so it’s not worth it.

There is no 1 window on the Hostel, so you feel the lack of fresh air!! The ‘’meal” they offer isn’t good at all, it’s just like an entrance so you’ll be always hungry at the end of it.

Thanks Chris for helping us in the hostel and for choosing to stay with us for your visit to The Netherlands. Sorry to hear you were not satisfied with a few things. Best of luck on your clothing brand tho! Thanks for the tip about the meal ;)

The team is very friendly and the cafe puts on events every night where you can meet people outside of the hostel. There are no windows anywhere, so it gets stuffy but also dry because of the AC. I’d wake up coughing and feeling suffocated. The guests are weird and dirty and made me a bit uncomfortable. Without windows, the bathrooms fill with chemical fumes from cleaning and it feels toxic. One chemical burned our eyes and made it harder to breathe. Good breakfast but only available after 11 & lunch around 3:30-5 (you won’t know). Shifts are 12-3 and either 7:30-8:30 or 21:30-22:30.

All the team from TGS is so friendly, they give me a nice welcome. The hostel is a social point in the city so you can meet a lot of people, they have diferents activities everyday. The tasks are not difficult and they respect the times, so is ok. The breakfasts here are awesome, the lunch always late so if you have an schedule to eat on time i recommend to eat outside, also you have discount in food and drinks so you can save a lot of money in food. I was in a female room so was ok, but you need to know that the rooms and the hostel don't have ANY WINDOWS :s they just have AC. Good experience
