Good Vibes or Good Bye, easy schedule changing beds / rooms between guests. We have only a few rooms so housekeeping is more enjoyable not a job like other Hostels / Hotels. 2 hours per day is perfect exchange (no shift schedules), enjoy meeting guests, practicing English and many opportunities to explore the City.

I loved volunteering here, it was a great atmosphere. Very easy to meet people, everyone was very social and great to be around. It is also in a great location, there are so many great things to do.

It was my first Worldpackers experience, and I had an amazing time at The Hostel California. I loved meeting people from all over the world; both the hostel guests and volunteers were fantastic. The tasks were easy, and Andy was very flexible. You’ll have plenty of time to explore San Diego and enjoy this wonderful city. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay while exploring San Diego. I hope to return in the future and relive the wonderful time I had!

This is a great opportunity to meet new people, stay in one of the coolest places in San Diego, super good vibes, the volunteer work is super cool and flexible, this was my first experience with Worldpackers and was amazing!! I would love to stay longer. Highly recommend!

Volunteering at The Hostel California was an incredible experience. The hostel had a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere that made every day exciting. The staff and fellow volunteers were amazing, creating a supportive and friendly environment. I had the best time at this hostel! Andy and the hostel guests as well as the other volunteers were amazing. So kind, open and relaxed! We cooked together, had lil parties sometimes, had movie nights or would sit by a little bonfire and make some music. There’s guitars everywhere and a piano as well :) The tasks were very chill and easy and Andy was always flexible with the timing. You don’t have to wake up at a certain time or be back at a certain time either, as long as you get your stuff done, which leaves you with plenty of time to explore San Diego! 100% recommend ❤️
