We are close to several famous tourist spots in Faro. So while you help us here at the guesthouse you will also have the opportunity to get to know the city very well.
We like to share our experiences and learn from the traveler's life experience as well. It is nice to have different people helping us out and giving us new ways to see things.

Mi experiencia en Faro fue maravillosa. La mejor parte sin duda es conocer al resto de voluntarios, el ambiente es genial. El trabajo no es duro y son generosos con los días libres. La ciudad es muy bonita y con mucho ambiente, y además te permite conocer de forma rápida y barata el resto de ciudades de Algarve. Hay que tener en cuenta que la playa está un poco lejos, por lo que hay que coger un ferry para llegar, aunque es bastante barato. Pedro, Sonia y Josefina nos trataron muy bien siempre, y estuvieron para nosotras siempre que lo necesitamos. En general, mi experiencia fue muy positiva!

Volunteering in Faro was my first worlpackers experience. And I must say I had some amazing weeks here.
You always have shifts around 10am-14am depending on how many people there are to work and some days can get heavier.
But you always know what to do and things about work were communicated immediately.
You are having lunch at another hostel which was really good due to other volunteers from other hostels that cooked for us :))
By not only getting to know your roommates but also volunteers from other hostels you meet many new people which is amazing! Thanks to Sonja, Pedro and Josefina<3

Looking back I had a great time volunteering at the Portuguese Element.
The work, cleaning and housekeeping, is easy, good manageable and never overwhelming . Also the working hours are as described, sometimes even less, which gives you enough time to explore Faro, Algarve and the all the other beautiful cities nearby.
I really enjoyed my time here.

Esse e meu segundo voluntariado na mesma casa, e so tenho a agradecer por tudo que aprendi e vivi. Sou grata e feliz por ter tido essa oportunidade por duas vezes seguida de estar com essa familia incrivel, que me possibilitou varias outras coisas boas. Foi uma ótima experiência, as horas de trabalho eram respeitadas, tive algumas conversas com os hóspedes em inglês, o que me ajudou a desenvolver o idioma. Não tive muito contato com o Pedro e a Sonja pq eles viajaram, mas a Josefina me ajudou bastante e sempre estava disposta a ajudar à todos. Recomendo a experiência para brasileiros que não falam inglês, é um lugar ótimo para iniciar pq conseguimos entender o idioma. A cidade é super segura, organizada e vc consegue fazer muita coisa andando, ponto negativo é que as baladas são pequenas e a cerveja é quente! 😭
