Wiki Family

Wiki is a hostel with a great history, look at our social networks and our website to understand how much we like to have fun and entertain, meet and bring different worlds together ...
But unfortunately the covid emergency forced us to reconsider the general organization and for the moment the Hostel is closed (We are organizing ourselves to restart with hostelling during the summer of 2023. In particular, we will host colivers.).
From spring 2023 we will reopen some social events to the area and the local community.
Most of the time we spend reorganizing, maintaining and keeping clean the spaces of the structure, sometimes we organize groups private and small training and meeting events. We also host the daily activities of our non-profit association.

Ours is a non-profit organization engaged in social tourism, agriculture and cultural projects.
We will be happy to welcome travelers and volunteers from all over the world who want to share a piece of their "trip" with us.

So in this period we are busy and we are looking for volunteers to help us:
- take care of general maintenance, some ordinary maintenance work and also extraordinary maintenance.
- take care of the ordinary maintenance of the park, gardens and all open spaces.
- Make the necessary restyling operations, also through the use of artistic forms.
- Take care of the general hygiene of all spaces, both when the spaces are used and when they are not used.
- Manage the kitchen for the staff, for small events or small groups of people, taking care of order and hygiene in particular.

Wiki Hostel is spread within a park of 5000 square meters, on two floors and some buildings connected to each other, for almost 1000 square meters indoors. Next door is our social farming project Pantasema farm, another piece of the wiki hostel family ...

In addition to our hostel and farm activities we activate and develop social tourism, cross-cultural, anti-racist projects here at Zagarolo and Milano, where we still develop projects thru our Patchanka Network organisation, the place where originally we met and began our Wiki Hostel Family adventure, on 2001 … but that’s another story …

Volunteers at wiki hostel become part of the family .... In addition to the management (luca, ulia, agnese, teo, alessandro e mauro) every day there are always 2/4 international volunteers, someone form local comunities, plus any friends. … plus our Wiki cats and Lola our super sweet black lab and other animals! Together with the Crew of our Project Pantasema we work hard to give our best. Most days for lunch we meet and eat together. Anyway we organize some evenings, BBQ, polenta, pizza, pasta,... Regarding the accommodation, the volunteers sleep in one or more dedicated rooms to them and other staff members, the beds are the same as in the hostel. The rooms must be kept tidy and clean, spare sheets are provided weekly and even if requested free towels. The rooms are equipped with toilet, bidet and sink, the showers sometimes are located in another room with a special dressing room to offer the right privacy. The wifi at wikihostel is not guaranteed in any room, nor the guests, nor the staff, only in all the common areas: high-speed wifi. Every day in the kitchen there is everything you need to have an Italian breakfast, lunch and dinner. We have a weekly menu that we adapt to the seasons. Basically the only collective meal all together is lunch at about 1.30 pm. All volunteers participate to facilitate meals and always keep the kitchen tidy and clean. In addition to this there are specific shifts for management and maintenance according to the kitchen rules. The fridge can also be used to store the volunteer's own products. Upon arrival and departure, we will obviously pick you up at the train station At the end of the period we try to organize a party for everyone, for share the certification for the volunteer. No free laundry, but we have verry close to the hostel one laundromat, and the manager is our friend... Just some info ;)

Me hice daño física y emocionalmente. No lo recomiendo 😭💔

Hi Moni.
1. you left your volunteer position before the deadline without any notice and without even saying goodbye. The day before you had a loud fight with your friend and the next day you ran away. I didn't do the rewies because I wanted to understand your personal situation, but obviously I was wrong.
2. when we met on worldpackers, we fixed your volunteer time, then you asked me if you could come together with your friend and i said yes.
3. when you arrived you asked me for a double room and I said yes.
4. you asked me for contacts with other friendly hostels and I gave them to you.
5. you asked me if you could change some free days to visit nearby cities and I always said yes.
Yes it's true we are late with the arrival of the animals, unfortunately the bureaucracy, the bad weather, the works, the life .... donkeys and goats will arrive on June 12th, I'm sorry if you helped us build their houses and you helped us for 4 days to fix the woodshed, honestly it doesn't seem like such a hard job ... then every 10 minutes of work you were on the phone or getting water, but that's right you're a volunteer ... as long as I don't allegations of exploitation.
Finally every day we met, 2 words daily, always all good, you never told me about any problem and then this totally unexpected reviews, bho.

This was the WORST experience ever.
I went whit my girlfriend to this hostel and it’s completely CLOSE (Luca lied to us and never mention that)
We did not have any communication whit him and he avoided us and ignored us all the time.
We did not do anything that is in the hostel profile.
We worked fixing a house that is next to the hostel and is for the “boss”. We did a really exhausting and dangerous work that has to be done for professionals.
We worked 6 hours per day (sometimes 8 hours). They take advantage to Worldpackers to find “cheapers” workers.
We have images/videos to show you.

Hi TOMAS.
You left your volunteer post early without warning or even saying goodbye. The day before you had a screaming fight with your friend and the next day you ran away. I didn't do the rewies because I wanted to understand your personal situation, but obviously I was wrong.

That wiki is in a post covid reopening period is specified in our profile and call. Just as the refurbishment works are in the call, which you obviously haven't read, the private house you're talking about is the new piece added to the wiki property, as written in the call, we will build the educational farm and for this we are preparing it ... not I understand which boss you are referring to, perhaps the guys from the crew who cooked and cleaned your room every day? I'd be really curious to see videos and photos, while we all ate and drank together?
You had all the free day changes you asked for, you had the double room you asked for, you had contact with other friendly hostels, we always agreed on all the shifts, we spoke to each other daily and you never reported a problem to me and then write these serious things?
Finally, we asked you not to throw condoms down the toilet from the second day and despite the request you continued to do so until it was blocked, behave better next time.

Although I had to leave earlier because of personal reasons I spent an amazing time at the hostel.
The people i got to know there, like the people who work there and the other volunteers, were super cool, chill and fun to spend time with. The hostel itself is well mantained and has a lovely atmosphere, It shows that the managers take care of it with love; It's near Rome so it's a good place to stop by and the tasks are light and satisfying to do. Definitely a place I will visit again, thanks for hosting me.
