Willy Wallace Hostel

Exceptionally friendly, spacious and clean backpacker hostel. It has an excellent location in the centre of Stirling just 2 minutes walk from the station, in an interesting ornate Victorian building. Free WIFI, Internet use and Tea/Coffee to all residents - large comfortable sitting room and great kitchen. We are already establishing a reputation as one of Scotlands best hostels. Decor is attractive, colourful and unique. Beds are extremely comfortable. Stirling - in the heart of Braveheart country is not to be missed.

In exchange of about 10-20 hours of help per week (depending on the position) on what needs to be done in the hostel, we offer an accommodation reserved only for the staff crew. You will be staying at the Willy Wallace Hostel, 77 Murray Pl. FK8 1AU, right in the city centre. We're 50min away from Edinburgh and 40min away from Glasgow by bus or train. Or if you're more like an outdoor person, the Stirling is known as the gateway to the Highlands! Long wild walks to do do all around the town. Every kitchen utensils you need are in the kitchen. We have staff fridges where you can occupy a shelf; or you can also take a tray to store the rest of your food in a tray holder. And of course a great high-speed wifi internet connection. Apart from our work-in-exchange-for-accommodation package we offer an opportunity to make friends with our international staff team!

Willy Wallace Hostel is a great place to volunteer! The manager Yann is easygoing and flexible with dates and days off, we didn't have a chance of making revolution yet but maybe some other time haha The staff was amazing and we had so much fun together. Stirling is a nice little town but cute as it can be, good pubs and beautiful landscapes. The work is easy and hours are fair, you'll have a lot of time to explore Stirling and surroundings or just chill on the cosy couch in the common area. The kitchen is huge and fully equipped. I had a great time over there, many thanks!

My experience at Willy Wallace couldn't have been better! The hostel is small but has everything, it's in the middle of the city so all the pubs and markets are close by. The tasks are easy and fair for everyone. The staff is great, everyone is super helpful and welcome. Yann the manager is really funny and cares about everyone, always open to new ideas to improve the hostel, and also he was really kind to give me some days off to explore the Highlands, so I would say that Stirling is a good place to make some base and explore the other cities around.

Life at the hostel is incredible! Yann (the manager) is always friendly and helpful, and you will meet new persons every day. The staff is really like a big family. Everybody is hilarious and always ready to help. With them, I had great adventures that I’ll never forget!:)
The tasks are varied and the shifts are quite short, so you’re going to learn a lot and have plenty of time to explore Stirling and nearby (Glasgow, Edimburg, Dundee etc).
If you want to have one of the best and funniest holiday ever or just have an insight on how a hostel works, Willy Wallace is the right place to go!

Magic place! So far the best work exchange experience that I have had. I don't want to leave! The tasks are simple and the manager is really friendly and flexible. If you like relaxing in the mountains and go for a beer in a traditional Scotish pub at the end of the day, this is the place. I'm going to miss so much this place that gave so many special moments with amazing people. Pure love!

Stirling is a small but beautiful town. Its charm relies on the fact that is not very turistic, like Glasgow or Edinburgh, but you always have something to do. Night life is cool, you have a few pubs and night clubs. The Willy Wallace is amazing. It's located right in the city center, a few minutes away from the castle. The hostel is very, very cozy and the only flaw I find is that we are in front of a night club, so weekends are a bit noisy. Your tasks are not difficult at all. Staff is just the best and they will be there to help you.
Yann is such a character! He is really chilled and patient
