The Experience
We have guests from all over the world, so it can be busy in the summer season, but it is mostly quiet. We have 3 shifts during the day, and we can arrange the schedule on a weekly basis. Your main duties will be to welcome and assist new guests with check in and directions in the city, providing them with hostel amenities, maps, etc. A bit of cleaning and being attentive to guests' needs - not hard work at all! It was my first volunteering experience and I couldn't have hoped for a better one. The hostel is located in the center, making it really convenient to explore and visit. The work was easy and light, we were able to choose the shifts among ourselves, and as long as tasks were completed, we were free to approach them as we preferred. Sofi and Francesco were always available and ready to helps us with any needs. The volunteer team quickly became like family to me. The month I spent in Palermo will remain a unique moment of sharing, learning and fun. I am grateful to have lived this adventure.

Volunteering at the hostel was one of the best experiences of my life. For three months, I worked at the hostel helping with simple tasks, which gave me time to explore Palermo and enjoy everything the city and Sicily have to offer. The location is excellent, with easy access to other cities, restaurants, cafés, bars, parties, and beautiful beaches. Sofi, the manager, was extremely proactive and empathetic, making the stay even more special. I also met amazing volunteers with whom I formed deep bonds, like a true family. I 100% recommend this experience!

It was, overall, an amazing experience. You can get to know a lot of people from all around the world and connect with the other volunteers. Sofi was helpful and friendly; you can ask her questions anytime and can help you solve problems. The shifts are simple and short, so you can have plenty of time for yourself. The location is perfect because it's close to the central station and 15 away from the city's tourist center.

Sunrise Hostel has truly become a home for me. Sofi, the manager, is incredibly welcoming, flexible, and supportive, making you feel valued. I had an amazing time with the other volunteers—special thanks to Elise, Pamela and Jess for making this experience unforgettable. The workload is light, giving you plenty of free time, so your experience here will largely depend on your attitude. Make the most of it by relaxing on the rooftop at night, exploring the stunning beaches of Mondello or Vergine Maria, and indulging in the local food. And don't miss out on the vibrant nightlife!

I had the best time at the hostel. Somehow the planets align there. It's not the most beautiful or comfortable place you'll experience but honestly it is what makes it so special. Everyday was an adventure, the team was incredible and the people too. It's very well situated in Palermo and it makes it easy to walk around or go out. Since the boss have several other places to take care of you won't see him a lot and you'll have to take care of this place with your own professional conscience. Sofie the manager comes on a daily to make sure everything is ok, she's the best and the sweetest.
