My time at Derrybawn was one of the most incredible experiences of my life! I learned so much from Andrew and his family, not only about sustainability and carpentry but about Irish culture and life in general. I gained so many new skills like making fires, cutting wood, building furniture and organizing logistics. The property itself is breathtaking, so many options for nature exploration and hiking. It's a truly welcoming vibe between Andrew's family and the other volunteers, we all became one cohesive unit working together to achieve the common goal of sustainability. Thank you Andrew!
Ambiance was really nice, even though you might feel lonely in this secluded place. I was first told it was supposed to be an eco village, but I discovered later that the "village" is actually accommodations made for guests, not residents. A bit disappointed by the whole project, but it was still good to feel I was useful.
Derrybawn Mountain Village is a collection of houses and lands on the edge of Wicklow Mountains National Park. We are thinking global, but acting local in terms of protecting nature and building an Irish centre for the planet.About the host
