We had everyday tasks of checking people in/out, making beds, cleaning, buying groceries, etc. The owners are there to ensure things are done and your really on your own to do everything. You can work at your own pace depending how much activity there is that day. The owners really want volunteers and guests to have a nice experience. The building has some age and you can clean your own area as you like to make it home. 5/5 location! Tommy is great and will take the volunteers out to see the countryside!

Tommy and Johnny were both great, and Tommy even brought us on a drive around the area to see historic castles and such. The hostel is awesome, with a huge common area, lots of seating, and a nice kitchen. Breakfast is good too, and includes eggs. The work was easy (mostly sitting in reception or cleaning). This was my first time volunteering at a hostel, and I strongly recommend that other volunteers try it also. :)

Spent 4 weeks at this hostel, wasn't too busy (just as I expected as it was December anyway) and work was quite relaxed (mostly reception work, some cleaning). Overall a nice stay with nice people :)

Being a volunteer was one of the best experiences ever. I had the possibility to meet a lot of people from all around the world and improve my English. In general, the Hostel’s tasks were pretty straightforward; one of the negative aspects was the lack of organisation that sometimes caused problems. In fact, the help of the other volunteers was essential. Yet Derry is a very nice city. Even though it’s small, it’s full of pubs and restaurants and offers easy travel connections to other Northern Irish/Irish cities.

It was my first time being staff at a hostel and I had an amazing time at Hostel Connect, the tasks are simple, it’s basically just keeping the hostel as how you wanted it to be if you were a guest, Jonny and Tommy would rather you to ask for help at anytime than not being sure of what you’re doing and the other volunteers make it feel like home for a while. Met so many nice guests that surely will become friends for life as well :)

I really enjoyed my time at Hostel Connect. I loved being able to work with people from all over the world and having fun with them. Tommy and Jonny are really nice hosts, they are not alway at the hostel but they trust the volunteers a lot. That means that they give you some freedom but also expect that you’re doing a good job. The city is nice, it isn’t very big, but there are many options of what to do and a lot of history to learn about. There’s a supermarket and a cinema just across the street and many pubs nearby. I definitely recommend this opportunity. Thank you for everything, guys!

I really enjoyed my stay at Hostel Connect, had a great time with the crew, Tommy, Jess, Vini, Tara, Chris and Gabi. The hostel was a very nice and organized building, loved the volunteers room. Derry is also a beautiful city, there is a lot of history around it, museums, the walled city, the murales, etc. There is also a varied night life, restaurants, supermarkets, pubs and more pubs. I definately recommend it!
Thank you for everything, im taking great memories with me! Hope to come back some day!
