Program Details

Hostel placements are ideal for people needing to complete a student placement as part of their course or if you are looking for a residential volunteering placement for up to 4 weeks.

We can welcome up to two volunteers so couples and friends are welcome. Volunteers receive free accommodation in a bedroom in the staff flat (with common area, kitchen and bathroom). The room can welcome 2 persons and can only be shared by a personal friend or another volunteer of the same gender.

You can expect to volunteer for five days (or a minimum of 25 hours) out of seven with two days off each week. The hours could include evenings, weekend and Bank Holiday working undertaken on a rota basis. In your free time you will be able to travel and explore the local area and our hostel team will have plenty of recommendations for you.

We ask that you adhere to our volunteer Code of Conduct. We are committed to ensuring the safety of staff, customers and volunteers and will terminate any placement where an individual has breached UK law, is a risk to themselves or others or where they bring YHA in to disrepute.
