I was going to spend 2 weeks at this hostel, but I spent just 8 days. One evening one of the managers said that another volunteer and I need to leave, the next morning the owner said that I can stay but my friend must leave. They explained it saying that our place was "a total mess",which wasnt true, also they said that we don't respect them.
I would describe the situation better, but there is not enough characters to explain.Nothing like this has ever happened to me.
The hostel is beautiful though,it has great views, and the working hours were nice! You should talk about days off in advance.

My stay at Ria Hostel was amazing, Marco and the staff was like a family. I met many great people and I had a lot of fun ! The accommodation was good as well. Ria Hostel is definitely a great place to discover :)

I had a good time at Ria Hostel Alvor. The host is a nice guy and there is always a family-like atmosphere in the hostel. The hostel itself is perfectly clean and located in a cute little village. I was prepared to work in the hostel as a handyman as well as helping with housekeeping and cleaning. Without being noticed or asked beforehand, my working field was restricted to the renovation of an apartment, which had to be due by a strict deadline. This caused the working hours to exceed the agreed amount regularly. All in all, it was a nice stay, but the work did not match my expectations.

Really nice hostel, they really treat you like a family, they cook for you, they take you out at night and they offer beers! They take you to near cities and so on!

About the host

Our hostel is located in a nice small but yet very much alive and colorful fishing town. It's sunny most of the year, the beach is at an approximate distance of 5 minutes, as well as the main restaurants, pubs, gym, atm's and others.
