The Experience

My goal is to provide free education for underprevileged children in the rural communities of Cambodia.  At the moment I can only provide free lessons for 80 students. I've been having the help of some volunteers but sometimes it's just me so I haven't been able to take in more students as I can't garantee to have a teacher for them. I already give classes during the hole day and I don't have time for more.

Very nice experience, I was able to share with many local people, such as the children, the other teachers and mainly with the host's family. Everyone is very friendly and tries to make you feel comfortable and at home. Working hours were respected all the time.

My time in the schoolwas a great experience. Me and my friend stayed for 2 weeks and taught English. In the morning we sat in on a lesson and in the afternoon were given our own classes to teach. Luch and the entirethethe the schoolstaff were so kind and welcoming , I am forever grateful to Luch for everything he did for us. On the website it says 18hrs a week which is applicable to how many hours you teach but sometimes you are expected to do other things, like promote thethethe the school (which was very fun as you can ride a moped). You can choose to stay in thethethe the schoolor his home. On weekends you can explore.

My time is the schoolwas certainly very challenging but also incredible. Lunch and his family are so lovely and welcoming. We stayed in thethethe the schoolbut there was also the oppertunity to stay at our hosts house. You get a room in thethethe the schoolwith a basic bed. We learnt so much and the kids were a delight. We loved riding around with the teachers to promote thethethe the schooland meeting the locals. You teach about 3 hours a day but are expected to do other things through the day which take up more time. The food was nice and everyone was lovely and makes you feel very welcome and valued.

This was an amazing experience. I read all the reviews saying bad things about the stay or the food. But that's not what matters! The experience was incredible! You work with kids from Monday to Friday from 7:30 until 4:30, you have a book if you need help. In the morning I was giving class on my own (very easy: days, months of the year) and afternoon I was assisting a local teacher. Kids have between 3 to 13 years old. It was really nice ! Stay at the mad monkey hostel if you prefer, it's 6$, there's a pool and you are 30min away from school. If you stay at Luch just bring mosquitoes spray.

My friend and me came for only one week in thethethe the school. Lunch is generous and tried is best to make the place good for us. He brought us for a weekend to see the beach in the South of Phnom Penh. We just noticed some communication problems that created the time here sometimes a bit complicated because of misunderstandings. If you like kids and went to see a different culture, it will be a great experience. Important to notice it's around 40 minutes for Phnom Penh.
