The Experience

My goal is to provide free education for underprevileged children in the rural communities of Cambodia.  At the moment I can only provide free lessons for 80 students. I've been having the help of some volunteers but sometimes it's just me so I haven't been able to take in more students as I can't garantee to have a teacher for them. I already give classes during the hole day and I don't have time for more.

My bf and I stayed for 9 days. We were supposed to stay for 2 weeks, but there was a public holiday for a week. It wasn’t communicated to us beforehand, so we left our work early.
We slept at Luch’s home in the living room with a half curtain for ‘privacy’. (Don’t sleep at school!) The family is sweet, but their English is minimal & no punctuality. There isn’t much to do in the area, but the home-food was tasty (a bit repetitive)
We were taken out on a fantastic tour by Luch! Teaching was disorganized with 0 plan:( Overall an educational experience to indulge and learn about local life. Thx!

I was received very affectionately by Luch, who provided me with a dinner with his lovely family. Children are very cute and love to interact with us foreigners. Regarding the stay conditions are very precarious. The dormitory is in a wooden box inside the school, with few privacy, without access to the kitchen, refrigerator, water... The school area also does not have markets, which also makes it difficult to purchase food or drinks. Beyond that, the bathroom didn't have shower and is far from the bedroom.

I stayed with luck and hi family for more than 10 days.
they take me to the country side for their traditional ceremony and I learned a lot of things about their cultures.about my sleeping place I really do not like it because I don't have any room and no privacy.
About teaching I always love to teach English especially to the children but in this school was alittle confusing because there was no plan for teaching, no equipment,no fixes class and hour . He told us to suddenly go to the one class for teaching with out no plan . This method is not good for the childrens .

An experience that made me grow in a lot of ways. I thank Luch and his family for welcoming me warmly in their home and daily life. I enjoyed so much teaching the kids, discovering the local culture and creating strong connexion with volunteers there. However, I gotta say that the facilities and the ressources to teach aren’t good. I was sleeping in a woody and hot room in the school where there were rats, mosquitos, cockroaches etc. And for the teaching, there are no programs or ressources to teach so you gotta figure everything out yourself and the kids are quite lost because of that.

I had 2 incredible weeks there. The host, Luch, his brother and the rest of the teachers are very welcoming. What they are creating it is really making a positive impact on those children: they are loving, kind, fun and very eager to learn. Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from them too. I will miss them a lot.
