Program Details

Starting with the external walls of our backpacker’s hostel, our mission is to change the face of our “Aldeia” (Urban Village) into “THE” street art precinct of Dili, bringing with it social, cultural and economic benefits as well as positive mental health to the residents of the area, the project is expected to take 2 years to complete and maintenance of the sites will continue indefinitely.

We want this to be a community art project where our volunteers coordinate, mentor, integrate and support the community. We envisage the murals will be created through community engagement, in which international volunteers, citizens, entrepreneurs, schools, NGO’s and artists co-create and take co-ownership in the works, building long-lasting and reciprocal social engagement.

We want the local community to be emotionally connected to the works long after the volunteers have gone.

Activities & Shift

Working times are flexible and will depend on the arrangements with the community groups and unemployed youth who through the art programme will be able to upskill their creative talents and practice other international languages. *coordinating community groups

*consultation with other artists on work design etc
