I really liked my stay af asia blue. There is usually a lot of volunteers at a time which makes it really fun and those people become your family. Stephanie is nice and is trying to make everyone feel satysfied with their tasks and working hours. There may be a lack of communication sometimes between volunteers and staff but I think this is what happens when there is a lot of people working.
In general Asia blue is a great place where you can relax or party, you can always find something to suit you.

At first I was really enjoying working at the hostel, but after some situations I went through and after noticing the disorganization that was the place, practically the same food every day (and was not always enough for everyone), the volunteers hostel the bathroom had yellow water. I was totally unmotivated to work there.
Basically they only have volunteers and expect them to do everything (which in my social and economic point of view does not help the local economy, since they don't offer job opportunities). Besides I didn't feel any effort on the part of the hostel to make us feel good

I stayed in Asia Blue for only two weeks, and I left there with a family. The other volunteers are the best part about this place, they create and environment of fun and friendship that makes you forget about the bad part of Asia blue like how they manage the place and the volunteer hostel... but besides this, you’ll make friends for life and get to live in a beautiful island

A beautiful hostel on the beach with a good crew of staff and nice perks like a gym and two meals. Some things to be aware of going into it (this was our experience)...You only get meals on days you work- which is fine as long as you know beforehand. You won’t necessarily work in the area you apply for. Our dorm had beds pretty much as hard as the ground but otherwise was fine and others were in a nice dorm. :) It is not super organized, but is overall very chill and easy to work out everything. We would stay again! miss you guys

koh phangan is an amazing island. the hostel is well located, about 15 min from the pier, but if youu want to explore the island you'll need to rent a moto, they have special price for volunteers. The volunteers (and some guests) are the best part of it. The work is fair, you work next to the beach and you can use their facilities like swimming pool and gym at any time. Important: you only get food the day you work, so be prepared for that.

The volunteers make it. They are like family and they are the life of this place. The place itself is beautiful. Be careful of poolbar and beach area. There is dengue around and they don't do much to prevent it. So protect yourself. Tasks are easy when working but management are unorganized. Stephanie is difficult. There are many people who come with amazing ideas and offer to help build business, but I feel management hinders that. Communication amongst mangers and staff is lacking. Micheal is a great boss. they are slippery with paying you commission. The crew and truly are the best!

Hi Zoe,

Yes Thailand and all over Asia is known to have dengue. This comes with traveling.

Thank you for your feedback. Each manager work differently. We do have a structure here but we must also go with the flow. We are a small business running with a minimal amount of employee due to low season.

We do take in all ideas but there is a lot you don't know about the business; we have been in business for more than 15 years, you arrived in low season and spending budgets are not available and to be fair, not all ideas are implementable, feasible or good.

Volunteering is the equivalent of working. We expect a good work ethic. You had a phenomenal start but you didn't show the same work ethic at then end. You claim to have dengue (which last 5-10 days and you would have been bed ridden) yet you drank and went out partying a day or two after having caught "dengue". I agree you were sick for a short amount of time however you should have finished your work exchange earlier than agreed. You also tried to take advantage by saying the owner said things but never did and these policies were written in your welcome letter and Volunteer reference guide.

Zoe, I hope you continue to learn about work ethic, integrity and business. You are young and will have lots of amazing experience ahead of you. You have an amazing personality and have great potential. Best of luck to you!

I had a very good experience with Asia Blue! Super friendly staff, easy tasks, nice environment and the location is a plus. The hostel is literally in front of the beach, close to the pier and shops. I’ve made very good friends, Darran, the manager, is such a fun spirit! If you like to party, he will be your best guide. Highly recommend Asia Blue and would definitely come back :)

My experience with Asia Blue was amazing.
The fact that I had to work in the pool Bar during the Full Moon Party period open the possibility to get to know most of the guests and make friends with most of them.
Since during that time the Hostel was full, I had to work 6h a day instead of 5h but it end up being a better deal so I could get 3 days of instead of 2.
All the Staff, Guests and volunteers were very helpful and such awesome people.
Stephanie was always ready to explain me about how I should run the bar, and was also very flexible to arrange my free days according with my plans.
