Program Details

We need people with welding skills to help with maintenance at our businesses and help build plastic recycling machines. We have many fundraising businesses run by our charity - Orangutan Project - in and around Kuching that always need welders to help with various projects! Additionally, we are starting to build open source plastic recycling machines at our CANDLE WORKSHOP. Find more info about the plastic machines at https://preciousplastic.com/en/machines.html!

We are an animal welfare and conservation charity on Borneo and 100% of our proceeds from our businesses go towards animal conservation and welfare.

For more information about our charity and what we do, check out our profile!

Activities & Shift

Generally, our volunteers work during the week to get things done at the businesses because the weekends are our busiest times.

You will be living at the volunteer house and working primarily at the candle workshop in Kuching building plastic recycling machines. You may also be going to the businesses around Kuching to help with repair or other projects (check out our photo gallery for a map).

You will be taking control of the plastic recycling machine project and a lot of the maintenance, so please only apply if you have relevant skills :)

Rules

We provide accommodation at our volunteer house along with a weekly food stipend and discounts at all of our locations, including bars, hotel, restaurant, green grocer and beach resort. In return we are looking for committed, mature and diligent people to help us make a difference. We are offering a work-exchange, not a free vacation :)
