The Exchange

In the reception and bar from 22:00 to 06:00 during 3 days each week. You will have to take care of the reception (check-in, check-out, cleaning of the common spaces) and the bar (serve drinks, wash dishes). We offer a full formation if you have no experience with reception and bar tending. A basic level in Portuguese and English is needed. Additional languages is a plus. Our guests are in part from Brazil and in part from the rest of the world.


What you offer

24 hours of help per week

Night Shift: Help with night shift tasks and create a relaxing environment for guests.

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Reception: Help with check-ins, check-outs and guest assistance.

Bartending: Make and serve drinks and help maintain the beverages inventory.

4 days off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Team Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other people.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Drinks: Get discounts for drinks and beverages from our bar.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Surfboards: You can use our surfboards as much as you want.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Program Details

Serving drinks for the guests, after they left the table: take away the dishes, clean the table, wash the dishes, and but them back in the place they belong.
Making, when needed, late check-in and early check-out.
Open the door when a guest ring the bell. Verify who enters and who leaves.
Cleaning of the bar, reception and kitchen (mop the ground, wash the dishes).
Prepare the breakfast: cooking eggs, making coffee, fridge.
Sometime, make inventory of the drinks.


Activities & Shift

You'll work 3 days a week and you'll have 4 days off. The days are to divide with our other night shift.
Week 1: you usually work on Thursday, Friday, Sunday.
Week 2: you usually work on Thursday, Saturday, Sunday.
The direction of the hostel Esperanto may modify some days, but you will be informed of that.


Rules

You can not leave the hostel during your turn, and you have to wait until the next shift comes. Smoking is allowed in the garden. You can not invite friends during your shift.
