The Exchange

If you are easy-going and want to get to know NYC and the area around, you should come to our "brazilian" hostel in Newark. Why brazilian? This region of Newark is a luso- portuguese community and the owner is also from Brazil :) But we receive people from all over the world every day and we need help welcoming them and giving us a hand to maintain our place nice and tidy!


What you offer

25 hours of help per week

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Housekeeping: Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.


What you get

1 day off per week

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.


Requirements

Intermediate English

Between 21 and 35 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or pairs)


What's not included

Flights, Travel Insurance, Internal Transportation and Visa


Program Details

Opening our house to the world has now become a full-time job so we are looking for someone reliable who can help us with the house chores, greet our guests at the door, show them around the house and make them feel welcome!


Activities & Shift

We are looking for someone reliable who can help with the house chores and guests interaction:
Making the beds, house cleaning, and most importantly greeting our guests at the door, welcoming them into the house and be available in case they have any questions.

We work on two different schedules:
Morning: 10 am to 4 pm
Evening: 4 pm to 10 pm

6 hours a day, 4 days a week. You will have 3 full days to explore New York City or take short trips to other cities!
