The Exchange

The World Peace Temple Brazil is entirely runned by volunteers. According to your skills, you will have the opportunity to help with general maintenance and special projects, such as painting, construction work , etc This is an spiritual community and you will be expected to respect the following rules: not killing (even insects), not lying, not stealing. Smoke, alcohol or intoxicants are not allowed and meals are vegetarian only.


30 hours of help per week

Painting & Decorating: Help with painting or decorating the property facilities.

Handyman: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

What you get

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Dinner: You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.

Free Events: Get free entrance for the best events in town.


Intermediate English or Beginner Portuguese

Program Details

We provide free accomodation, 3 meals a day and free classes for volunteers.
You will be expected to help from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, with pauses for meals and coffee break. After 5 days work, you will have the weekend free.
You´ll receive instructions from a coordinator and will help with different tasks, such as maintenance, construction work, painting, cleaning or preparing accommodation for guests. It´s good fun and you will be welcomed by our friendly community.

Activities & Shift

Volunteering is Monday to Friday. Weekends free, when you can enjoy classes, retreats or hang out with visitors and residents.
Daily schedule:
7 am: wake up with the sound of birds, surrounded by an ecological reserve. If you are lucky, you can see local fauna in your way to breakfast ;)
9 am: volunteering begins and you will receive instructions from a coordinator. We will try to alocate you according to your skills
10:30 - 11am: pause for coffee, biscuits and a chat with the other volunteers
11 am: more of your precious help
1 pm: delicious and healthy vegetarian meal
2 pm: back to work!
3:30 - 4 pm: another pause to relax
4 pm: one more hour of joyous effort
5 pm: relax and watch the sunset :-)
6:30 pm: supper time
7:30 pm: chanted prayers or meditation class
9 am: watch the stars, read from our Buddhist library or enjoy time with the community
