The experience

We live in a little natural community, barefoot, by the river, next to the beach, in huts and tipis, with over 40 rescue dogs, cats, puppies and kittens, we need to keep our place going, caring for the animals and the place, we like people to feel at home and keep our place how you would your own home, clean and with love for the animals. We need help with maintaining structures, fences, feeding the animals.

What you offer

16 hours of help per week

Building & Repairing: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Tent: You will sleep in a tent at a camping site.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Requirements

Intermediate English or Intermediate English

Between 20 and 65 years old

Only hosts solo volunteers (doesn’t accept couples or partners)

Program Details

Every day we choose our shifts : morning 9 to 12.30, or afternoons 2 till 5.30, or evenings (someone to light the campfire!), 4 to 7.30. We need to clean the communal spaces, prepare food and medicine for animals, and perhaps go and rescue an animal in distress outside, or fix a broken fence, or build a hut, we decide together each day the activities.

Activities & Shift

We between us clean the chillouts and the kitchen, do any laundry, sweeping, and try to work on a project, a boat, a kennel, a hut, sewing, general maintenance is needed regularly on a daily basis, practical skills are needed and can easily be taught!

Rules

Our main rule is general respect for each other and the animals. Please commit to your work and your arrival date, we would appreciate if everyone cleans their rooms and bedding before leaving and leaves it nice for the next person.
