I had a great experience at Vagabond Hostel and it definitely contributed a lot for the great time I also had in Bosnia. Sarajevo is now one of my favorite cities in Europe.

Aida, the owner is very kind and flexible. I asked her consecutive days off, so I could travel, she didn't hesitated in giving it.

The tasks are simple and not boring, I was doing the night shift three times a week, it's long hours, but it's ok. Just three days 😉

The location of the hostel is awesome. And the atmosphere there is very familiar. I strongly recommend everyone to volunteer there.

Dear Rafael, thank you for being a part of our growing family. Good luck to you amazing Vagabond!

One of my best experiences! I decided to stay another month because I really loved the atmosphere of the hostel and the city.
The staff is very friendly and Aida is super kind! <3

Dearest Carla,
I only have words of praise for you! You are an amazing person, open, easygoing and an expert on everything. We loved having you and we miss you so much. Good luck in everything you do.
We love you and you have a home in Sarajevo forever. <3

Hostel Vagabond was my best experience so far. They respect and value the volunteers like part of their family! The hours and tasks are very fair and both the volunteers and the staff do the same sort of tasks (even the owner of the hostel joins in sometimes)! I genuinely felt like I was leaving home again the day I left and I’ll definitely be back!

Aida replied

Dear Andrea,
We miss you already. We are looking forward to the day that you let us know that you are coming back... Good luck in your life adventures.

I end up extending my stay for another month because this hostel is amazing!! daily tasks are so easy to make, working hours couldn't be better.. this place feels like home! the location is great btw, definitely planning on coming back :)

Aida replied

Dear friend, we all love you and don't want you to leave us, ever! :*

My time in Sarajevo unfortunately was really short. I loved the city, mix of cultures and cheapest options to eat and enjoy outside, but I left because was like scam my experience there. The host was distant and didn't manage volunteers correctly, the relationship must be a mutual help no free workers. The agreement wasn't respect and worked long shifts, 6 hours on night and 6 more on day first hours, total 12 hours and finished tired, and needed more time to recover yourself if you want to wander in the city. Was not fair to me, but maybe it's fine for freelancer volunteers or similar. Luck!!

Paula has been a good volunteer, but she complained about everything. There has been a period of couple of days in between the volunteers where I asked her to work a bit more and she got paid to do it. Paula is not a proactive person and you have to tell her everything she needs to do. Very tiring.
