It is preferred that you can volunteer for 1 month or longer.
The day will be 2-4 hours @ 9 or 10:00a.m.
It will include cleaning the rooms when guests check out; cleaning the bathroom; cleaning the kitchen. Once or twice a week, we mop the floors, except the bathroom, is vacuumed daily.
There may be occasional outdoor work, such as, raking leaves; snow shoveling; gardening.
What you offer
25 hours of help per week
Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.
Help with changing the bed linens and general housekeeping.
Help grow plants and cultivate gardens
What you get
2 days off per week
You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.
You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.
You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.
You are entitled to a free dinner, every day of your stay.
You can use our laundry room freely.

While helping with the cleaning at the hostel, you will have the remainder of the day to explore the City of Chicago.
The position will be for a minimum of 4 weeks.
You will be invited on the Architectural Tours inside some of the famous building and the boat tour.

- orienting the guests whenever possible
If you have 2 days off per week, we usually don't schedule them 2 days consecutively.
Quiet Time is 10:00p.m. to 8:00a.m.
You will likely share a room with others.
There is no eating outside the kitchen.
Smoking is not allowed inside the house. There is an ashtray in the back of the building.
If you are staying overnight at another location, we need to be notified the day before.
Visitors are allowed, but we must always be notified.
It is important to be gentle on the equipment, etc. Repeated breakage may result in repair costs coming from the food budget.
