The experience

The Travellers may be asked to help with a variety of tasks like sowing seed, making compost, gardening, planting, cutting wood, weeding, harvesting, packing, milking, feeding, renovation,fencing, making mud-bricks, cleaning and photography. The Travellers are also expected to be honest,commitment and to join in and cooperate with the day to day activities.


What you offer

4 hours of help per day

Kitchen Hand: Help prepare, finish and serve meals.

Tour Guide: Organize and lead tours around the city.

Cleaning: Help clean the kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms and common areas.

Gardening: Help grow plants and cultivate gardens


What you get

1 day off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Shared Dorm: You will have a bed in a shared room, which means you will share the same room with other travelers.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Program Details

Volunteers are encouraged and supported to get involved in planning, managing and executing activities and taking on responsibilities according to their skills and interests, as well as the needs of the project.It is very common that volunteers stay with a host family as they volunteer as this enables them to gain a unique cultural experience and also have a ‘home away from home’ experience. They also get to practice the local language.


Activities & Shift

Slightly more than half of the respondents reported spending 1 - 4 hours per day on farm task. Volunteers tasks vary according to the type of operation. Farmers who raises only crops will be responsible for preparing land for planting, caring for the crops and harvesting. Crops can include livestock feed such as hay or grain, fruits,Carrots.onions, and vegetables for human consumption.
One of the flexible work arrangement include
variable-day and variable-week schedules that usually
require a specified number of hours per pay period.


Rules

There were rules for what you could and couldn’t do on Sunday. Enter into the farm project acceptable but you couldn’t do any farm work. You could take a walk but couldn’t ride bike in the farm project,walking lonely during night time not acceptable. These rules weren’t written down anywhere but it was that way because it had always been that way for our Organization of The Central Kamabido Networking CBO
