Gentle World is a team of dedicated volunteers who work cooperatively to provide a live-in educational program for those who wish to learn about vegan living. Our year-round headquarters is in North Kohala on The Big Island of Hawaii. We have a large vegan-organic garden and a communal house which accommodates our long-term volunteers and serves as the amenities for guests participating in our visitor volunteer program.

We ask helpers to contribute 5-6 hours a day (plus after-dinner clean-up) for five days out of the week.
We provide you with three meals a day, and your own private cabin for sleeping. Amenities are at the communal house, where we have a shared bathroom and kitchen.
On your days off, we can take you down to town, or sometimes even to a beautiful place to enjoy a hike.
We ask that all visitors who come to help us be prepared to exercise their personal integrity and work ethic during their stay. Because volunteer duties do not always follow specific hours, and our needs change every day, helpers are asked to participate in a variety of tasks. We understand that different tasks suit different people and always do our best to take that into consideration.
We expect everyone to respect our vegan way of life while they are here, and to refrain from smoking cigarettes indoors. We also ask people not to visit when they are sick or coming down with a cold or anything similar. We have some more detailed guidelines that we share with people once we begin communication.
