Program Details

Volunteers go to the local kindergarten or nursery as helpers. They support the teachers and students as needed, often joining in activities, songs, and playtime. In addition, our program supports animal welfare activities and volunteers may participate in animal care.

Activities & Shift

The volunteer coordinator will experience and learn about program aspects first hand; will ensure that volunteers go to the kindergarten and nursery; will manage the house environment; will set the schedule and communicate with the schools; will assist with recruitment; and will back up admin.

Volunteers are expected to be good ambassadors for their countries and to interact respectfully with school and community members. Since our program also supports animal welfare activities, volunteers should be prepared to kindly care for animals as well. A shared volunteer house is provided with equipped kitchen. This is an old Japanese house in a quiet residential Japanese community. As guests we are mindful of our interaction within the community and we follow community guidelines.
