Volunteering at the hostel has been the best thing I've done this year. The work isn't the most relaxing but it's part of the deal and everything we do has been mentioned to us during the interview. The managers are always there if you need help and da great job of recruiting volunteers. The staff were great, and I made friends for life. The hostel is located in Downtown and to be honest it's not the nicest part of SD but there's plenty of public transport to go anywhere and lots of bars in the area. I'm super grateful to have been able to live this experience.

The hostel was my first Worldpackers experience and the whole team made it a truly amazing experience! The whole volunteer group was so lovely and the work was appropriate. Also Maria helped us with a personal problem and did her best trying to fix it, thanks again!

The hostel has an incredible community of volunteers and professional staff. I worked night shift from midnight to 8am. The position had a consistent schedule of working every weekend. It's not a good fit for individuals wanting to party on the weekends; however, it leaves plenty of free time during the weekdays. Responsibilities mostly consisted of handling intoxicated guests and late night check ins. I always had the support of the staff on-and-off the clock. The people in the hostel truly made the experience worthwhile. I'm grateful for my new family.

This was my first volunteering experience on worldpackers and it's a great way to start!! The hostel is a lovely little haven tucked into a central location in the hostel district. The tasks are relatively easy to learn and you get a lot of support from other team members. The absolutely best thing about the experience are indeed the people, other volunteers, and you get to meet a lot of other teammates since there are usually over 10 of us. The support of living together is wonderful. Thank you the hostel and everyone working there for making San Diego a home for a while! :)

Best experience ever! I learned so much from my friends and the guests, had amazing exchanges, and made friends for life! I practiced a lot of English and also Spanish, the work helped me feel much more confident about myself! About the work: housekeeping is a bit more demanding because the hostel is very clean and organized, something I really appreciate. At the reception, I was initially scared by the language barrier, thinking I couldn't do it, but Maria trusted me and helped me a lot, as did all the managers! I highly recommend this experience to everyone :)

Definitely, it was an incredible experience and one of the most special in my life! I was able to make connections with amazing people, hang out with them, and also learn about so many cultures! The hostel's location is great, in the heart of the city, and we were able to use public transportation to reach many beaches and great places! The staff team is so much fun and welcoming! I'm really glad to have made those connections and to have had this experience!

Volunteering at the hostel has been an amazing experience. The hostel always had around 12 volunteers and I truly have made amazing friends❤️ Owners also hosted several events for volunteers to hang out. The hostel has three owners and two managers, but the rest of the work is done by volunteers. Volunteers are responsible for most hostel's housekeeping (toilets, rooms, kitchen) and reception but there is good training provided. Owners create weekly work schedule so it's fair for everyone. Typical week would be 10h-housekeeping, 10h-reception, 5h-social event hosting. Overall, great time🍾

We are happy you had a good experience here, though these comments make it sound like we don't do any work! lol..... for those reading, the managers and owners do reception shifts, laundry, maintenance, housekeeping and anything else that needs doing to keep things running well in front of the scene and a lot of things back of the house to make sure our hostel stays open and attractive to guests.

The hostel was an amazing experience! It was my first volunteer experience, and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity. I was fortunate enough to meet such amazing people. One of the best parts about this hostel is that a lot of the volunteers, as well as guests, are international. It's a great place to learn about other cultures, and in a way that feels more personal and meaningful. The people I volunteered with are some of the most interesting, kind, and overall remarkable people I've met. Meg, Erika, Maria, John, and Erin are amazing. They really love the hostel and what they do.

I had the perfect experience at the hostel ! The host Maria is very nice and clear for you to enjoy your stay. Located in the heart of San diego where everything happens. The best part is the other volunteers that you will meet and they will make your stay unforgettable!!
