Very nice hostel and super well located in the city center (although a bit far from the beach)! Good atmosphere and clean facilities at our disposal that perfectly meet expectations.
Breakfast is simple and does not have much variety. Sometimes, especially in the afternoon shifts, there is not much work and despite everything being finished you must stay there.
As for the staff, there are people who have been there for a long time (almost a year) and therefore, they don't socialize because they have their own life there.
Despite that, the experience is positive and recommendable:)

It was my first volunteer experience and it was awesome. I had the best summer ever over there! The staff are so friendly, they are kind and always up to do fun things. The place is a great place to live and it is well located so there’s always something to do around the hostel!

I arrived knowing little English, and I left not only learning a lot about the language but also about the culture of many countries and friends from all over the world. The housekeeping tasks are not difficult and are solved among the team, the facilities are very clean, the location is excellent, the schedules are respected, the staff is super friendly, at no time I felt alone, it is a very nice environment to work and to live :) It was my first experience and I recommend it 100%

My time at the Gaslamp Hostel was incredible and definitely one of my best times in my life! From the beginning on I felt like home and really warm welcomed. The assistant manager, Meg, introduced me to everyone on the first day and took care of me. Since all the staff member are living in the hostel, you are creating a really strong bond with everyone real quick. The working hours are definitely respected. If you work at the reception you should be prepared to work overnight shifts as well. I can just recommend this place to everyone. It’s a really special place!

This was perfect for my first work exchange! The hostel itself is so beautiful, the rooms are comfortable, everything is clean, and they have great amenities and events for the guests. The rest of the staff and management were superb; helpful, organized, and friendly. They go a long way to make the staffs and guests have a great time while they stay here. Highly recommend and will really miss my time here!
