Bring back to life a Vintner's Cottage in a hillside village!

The Exchange

The old Vintner's cottage opposite us is perfectly habitable already, but we would like to do some improvements to it - install a shower, improve the kitchen, redecorate, painting shutters and windows, deep cleaning, paint some furniture, improve the garden by adding gabions and installing steps, cutting back overgrown trees, etc.

Program Details

Our idea is for a couple, or maybe 2 couples to live in the house which has 3 bedrooms, whilst they do the help, which will sometimes be with us, and sometimes alone. This way they get their own privacy and also see what other snagging things need doing by actually living in the property. It is centrally heated already and will be furnished.

Activities & Shift

We are flexible with the volunteering arrangements. It could be done in a block of days, or a few hours a day, or a mixture of the two, allowing you the time to explore the region and its volcanos, chateaux, pretty villages, markets, vide greniers etc.
We live in the old school of a pretty rural village deep in the 'real' France which has remained pretty untouched. If you want to spend your time with French people and practicing your French, rather than a touristy region, then this is for you!! It is an excellent area for off-road biking or cycling through forests. Good walks, some of the circular ones go straight past our front door! If you like flea markets, and especially really reasonably priced ones, then this is most definitely the area for you!

Rules

Non smokers only please.
We live in a rural mountainous part of France with no public transport so your own vehicle would be necessary
