Animal care is centered around feeding, grooming, and cleaning, from sun-up to sun-down (6:45/7:00am sharp to approximately 6:00 pm). Alternating shifts include babysitting for our special needs animals and new babies who need around the clock care and supervision, and you will have the opportunity to support outreach programs such as sanctuary tours, manage our social media, and help on construction projects like building tiny homes for our animals, fence maintenance, etc. The help is physically challenging (lots of walking and moderately heavy lifting) but very accessible. We are looking for volunteers with a deep connection to the animals who will be committed to their care, willing to pitch in that extra hand when needed. We are in a rural area so volunteers should be excited for the experience to totally with the animals on our beautiful property for the duration of their stay.
Activities & Shift
Our shifts are not perfectly set, as we all need to respond to the needs of the animals throughout the day, but generally breakfast shifts run from 6:45/7:00 am sharp to approximately 9:00 am. In between shifts, we ask that volunteers still keep an ear out for the animals and one person will always be on babysitting duty (for special needs and baby animals). The lunch shift is approximately 11:00 am-2:00 pm, and the dinner shift is approximately 4:00-6:00.
Please absolutely no smoking, drugs, or excessive drinking on the property.
