I recommend the experience to all those adventurous hardworking volunteers out there. I truly believe in the project and with hard work and commitment volunteers can make a huge difference in the life of every member who is part of the project. Ideas are always welcome and appreciated. The house has the nicest view; however, I think it's necessary to have a room available for all volunteers who need a place to study and/or work. I also think volunteers could be offered a refreshment or breakfast since it can be a little expensive living there since each ride in mototaxi costs $4r.

Casa do Mar is a very special place in Rio. You are on the edge of pacific rain forest over-viewing the cliffs and sea. I felt comfortable there - Larry is a very open minded chap and I had many interesting talks with him. I also met many interesting people in his house and in the nearby NGO - where English lessons took place. Meeting new people there helped me to improve my Portuguese and make new friends. I also enjoyed teaching kids in favela - which was a bit challenging - but very rewarding especially when you see kids having fun. Long story short - I enjoyed it and recommend it!!!
