The Experience

We are looking for volunteers at our tropical-vibe historic hostel in Austin, Texas! We're located in the heart of the Eastside, walking distance from locally owned bars, restaurants, and music venues. We pride ourselves on being a small homely hostel where the staff and guests get to know each other more and feel at home. We are also obsessed with pineapples and break out the margarita machine here and there. So come join us!

My 1 month stay at HK turned into 3 due to Covid. During this, the owners Brent & Matt graciously let the vols stay even though the manager Josh tried to reset my end date & threatened to kick out the vol coordinator. Josh did not provide proper cleaning supplies & TP for us yet expected us to clean & lied to the owner saying we refused to clean. But the other vols were great, we made the most of a bad situation, making food, watching GOT, gardening & deep cleaning through this uncertain time. While I wouldn't work here again, I do recommend Austin as it is a lovely city.

Super fun chill down to earth hostel, beautiful, clean house .

HK was one of the best experiences in this trip, and for sure one of the best hostels I've ever been so far. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to volunteering in a place like this. Everything is so calm and peaceful in that house it makes you really feel at home. Brent and Josh, the owner and the manager are such a cool guys, very fun, respectful and comprehensive people. Austin just amazing, full of cultural activites all around. That experience is one less topic out of my bucket list for sure.

This hostel is amazing! I had a great time, work was fine, every day but limited to 2 hours. The people there were the best part of my experience, it couldn't have been any better! I never wanted to leave and I will definitely try to come back! The city of Austin is beautiful as well, especially when you enjoy live music. Overall a fantastic place to stay and my words are not exaggertad at all. Miss everyone in this hostel!!

I'm so happy that I got to go to HK Austin. The place is classic and comfortable to hang out or even study. People in Austin are super friendly and happy. The location is Amazing, with food trucks around and close to downtown (I just walked there). The tasks in the hostel were pretty easy and Brent (the owner) worked with us. HK Austin is for sure the best choice. HK and the city of Austin have a special place in my heart.
