The Experience

Overall, I highly recommend this experience, but ONLY if you speak/understand some Spanish. The post about the experience says intermediate English OR beginner Spanish, but I really do think you need some knowledge of the language because all of the tasks will be explained to you in Spanish and your colleagues mostly only speak Spanish. I think I would have enjoyed my stay even more if I would have been able to communicate better with the staff from the hostel and the coffee shop adjoined to the hostel, but then again, everyone is very nice and helpful.

The hostel is an incredible hostel with beautiful and spotless facilities, located in the best area of the city, there are plenty of things to do around, lots of parks, restaurants and bars. The tasks are exactly as described so you do not have to worry about doing anything that you were not taught to do. You can feel the support from the host all the time since they always help you with anything, my experience could not be better, thanks a lot to the staff.

Hey there. The experience at the hostel was really good. Everything was Jose and I mentioned. The staff was really friendly and they were always kind. Good vibes at hostel, I met some good friends there and everything was amazing. Thank you very much Jose and the hostel' staff for all the support during these days shared. See you next time! It was my first volunteering experience, and during my first solo shift, I made minor mistakes and received accusatory and aggressive messages on the WhatsApp group, leaving me embarrassed. The errors weren't significant and could have been resolved with a more constructive and friendly conversation instead of an accusatory approach. We tried to address these concerns with the hosts, but the group atmosphere didn't improve. When a volunteer expressed discomfort with the group's tone, she was asked to leave and faced attacks and comments from the owner. And the actual workload was 25h/week.

I really enjoyed my time at the hostel. it was my first volunteering experience and i couldnt recommend it enough. Because you work at night your will have the whole day to enjoy Bucaramanga and go out with the people you meet at the hostel. The tasks where also pretty easy and didn't really feel like work. Thank you to all the people working at the hostel for the awsome experience and for making me feel at home!
