The Experience

We are a private language institute located in Villa de Leyva, Colombia, a few hours north of Bogota and we are looking for native speakers to teach their language, especially English, to students of all ages: children, teenagers and adults. We also have social impact programs and need help to go to rural schools to teach English to children from low-income families.

I spent almost a month at the Geton the school, and I am so grateful I did. Villa de Leyva is a beautiful pueblo, and the school that I taught in was perfect for teaching and so serene. We also had Spanish classes provided. The host was very welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed throughout the experience. I taught up to four classes a day and created the curriculum for each class. The students were of all ages and levels of English proficiency. The teaching was very gratifying, and I learned so much as well. I would love to return one day.

Anaïs was very helpful and flexible, excellent communication! If you need something, she'll do her best to help you out! The teaching was fun as well. The house is quite a ways out of town so not only is it an uphill, 30 min trek every time you want to go home, but there's nowhere to really hangout in town between classes unless you go to a cafe every day. Although there are tables & chairs at the school, there's not a comfortable lounge space for between classes. Overall, working with GetOn was nice, but be prepared to be in a quiet town as not much happens in Villa de Leyva.

I spent 6 weeks in Villa de Leyva teaching with the school. It was a wonderful experience. The house for the teachers is really nice, and if you prefer peace + quiet like I do you will enjoy the location - about a 20-30 minute walk from the center of town. The town itself is lovely. I already miss it dearly. Anaïs is a wonderful person to work with. She is very understanding, should you have any questions/concerns, and also a warm presence that I am glad to have had the pleasure of meeting (like so many of the people I met in Villa).

The town of Villa del Leyva is super nice and peaceful. I definitely enjoyed my experience here and I would love to come here again in the future. Anais is super helpful and kind so you won't have any problems if you need help from her.

My experience was great 🤍 I would really recommend if you want to be outside the caos of big cities for a while. the school, the house and the city are all nice. Anais is also very kind and dedicated.
