The host Andres was great, he always made me feel welcome and was very understanding with my class schedules. He was very proactive about meetings, making sure you understand what is expected of you, and telling you what to do/how to do better if needed.

There was a bed bug problem during the middle of my stay and he shut down the hostel for two days and we all helped fumigate the rooms by taking apart the beds to get into the cracks and taking out all the mattresses.

At the end of my stay, I had exams with my school program and Andres stayed in one night to take a shift!

I enjoyed my stay at Key West, mostly because of the people (staff and volunteers). The work is easy, mostly during the night, just make sure you are flexible as the schedule might change last minute. Mostly it's late checkins/early checkouts, watching cameras and keeping people quiet (which was maybe the hardest part).
They also own a sushi restaurant, which you have to try!
The location of this hostel couldn't be more perfect, Laureles is a great area, with lots of bars and restaurants, but also very safe. The stadium and a big sports complex are in walking distance, and so is the metro.

With pleasure I recommend the experience at the Key West Hostel.
The job is to be at the reception for five hours each night and it wasn't hard.
The location of the hostel is perfect: the main street is full of life until 3/4 am, at the same time the area is safe, there are always new customers of different nationalities and it’s simple to make new friends.
Gracias por todo Andres, Paula, Manu y Kevin ♥️🍱

it was good hostel to meet with local traveler and international traveller. That means you can practice both English and Spanish. They are really kind and helpful to what i want! You will get typical Colombian home-made lunch most of the day which i liked a lot. So, you will get everything what you want to expect to get by volunteering in this hostel! Also, the hostel was next to the party street for local ppl called la 70. so you can go to party if you want! To note that, You will do a night work from 2 am to 7 am if you are alone and 10pm to 3 pm or 3 pm to 8 am if you are two volunteers.

Working at Key West was in general a good experience. The location is perfect. The staff is really nice and welcoming. We did have some problems with communication, since it took them 2 weeks to actually sit down and talk to me about the work that had to be done. Also, since we are up all night in the reception, we need to sleep during the day, which can be pretty hard since the hostel is very loud all the time, so after 3 weeks, I was really exhausted.
