The Experience

Living in the Famous West Kerry on the magnificent Dingle peninsula my passion is all about water sports especially surfing & foiling. I'm running a 13-bedroom hostel surrounded by 9 different beaches on a small peninsula including the wonderful long Brandon bay, the local area has lots to offer with beautiful landscape sand dunes and mountains, water sports & land activities, pubs, restaurants, hiking trails, all in walking distance of the lodge

The hostel quickly became my home away from home. Amidst stunning Irish landscapes, I found a welcoming community and contributed to this lovely hostel. Duncan, its heart and soul, is both a dedicated host and an inspiring surfer. His infectious passion for the lodge and surfing sets a laid-back vibe. Working at your own pace, supported by Duncan, made every moment wonderful, even during wild off-season wind and rain storms. the hostel is a must for an authentic Irish adventure amongst new friends.

I had a great month at the hostel with Duncan and everyone else staying/passing through. The work load was light due to the hostel being off-season but there were plenty of projects if you were motivated. While the location of the hostel was about an hours walk from the village, Duncan was always willing to give rides as needed. The hostel was large but warm and friendly and there was always something to do if you got out and about. Everyone I met there was good craic and the Maharees was so beautiful with its own kind of magic. Duncan was so kind as to loan me water gear and boards!

I stayed 5 weeks at the lodge and it was one of my best experiences ! Duncan is very kind, he always wants to be sure we are good and we enjoy our stay ! Tasks are easy to do and the lodge is very comfy, you feel at home very easily ! If you want to visit more you'll need a car but if you love nature and just want to enjoy watersports, the lodge is the perfect place ! People are all very kind, they love to share and help ! It wasn't easy to leave them ! I arrived at the end of october so it wasn't so hot to go to surf but it's definitely an amazing place to start or just to enjoy surfing !

My time at the hostel was one of the best experiences of my life. Duncan is friendly and welcoming, and the workload is fair. The local community are all so lovely, it feels like a family. The location is a little rural but there's plenty of people with vehicles who'll help you get from a to b, and it's nice to be away from it all. Learnt to surf here which was sick, can't wait to come back in the future :)

The stay at the SurfLodge was an amazing experience and is an absolute must if you like Watersports or want to learn surfing. I stayed for 2 Months there (August/September)and had a wonderful time. The Host (Duncan) is very kind and supportive and the workload is fair and flexible. The locals and the people at the lodge are all kindhearted people who will help you without any hesitation. What might improve your stay if you are planning to stay there: - If you like to be independent rent a car (but it is also doable without one, Duncan drives you to the shops if you need something). Thankyou!
