Program Details
Our main projects are developing agricultural systems, natural building projects, and water infrastructure. Community life is vivid. We share all meals together, dance, make art and music together, do spiritual practices together, community activities, etc.. You will be part of a loving community of people who deeply care about making a change in the world. Here are the main projects we’ll be working on:
Agriculture and Food: We have a large organic garden and are developing a large-scale silvopasture system. In the spring and fall we will be further developing our silvopasture, orchards, and wildlife buffer by mapping out and planting more trees and shrubs.
Renewable Energy and Water: We are currently building an infrastructure to transfer water from our well to different areas of our land.
Building: We will be working on different natural building projects.
Activities & Shift
Our volunteer structure is working three days straight for 6 hours a day, followed by one full day off, and then repeat the cycle. We take two breaks during the daily work period for communal breakfast and lunch. Everybody on our land works this cycle. On our days off, a bunch of us usually go into nearby towns or swimming spots to have fun and radiate Love! Living accommodations will either be a large yurt-like shared tent or individual tents that we will provide. We can also provide you with bedding.
Rules
At the heart of our community is a commitment made by each individual to cultivate more love in themselves and dedicate all action to serving others. We are looking for volunteers who are serious about making a change in themselves and the world. As a new member we will offer you teachings in our ashram’s spiritual practices and offer opportunities for 1-on-1 guidance with advanced students. Our system of spirituality is primarily built around Eastern modalities; specifically the four main yogas of Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Raja Yoga and Jnana Yoga. We expect new members of HYA to attend daily group spiritual practices and maintain a personal daily practice. We are a substance-free community, so no substances are allowed here. We are pet friendly and family-friendly so kids are welcome!
