The experience

Join us as a Zoo volunteer! Work alongside skilled veterinarians and staff, at our local Zoo in the Peruvian Andes. As a volunteer, you will learn about each species and support by feeding animals, spending time/sharing loving energy with animals, helping veterinarians administer medications, cleaning, gardening and maintaining the atmosphere for the animals.


What you offer

20 hours of help per week

Animal Care: Help look after and take care of animals.

Social Work: Help with volunteer work in local projects and communities.

Handyman: Help with a wide range of repairs or building.


What you get

2 days off per week

Private Room: You will have a bed in a private room. In other words, a room just for you.

Breakfast: You are entitled to a free breakfast, every day of your stay.

Lunch: You are entitled to a free lunch, every day of your stay.

Discounts on Tours: Get discounts for tours and excursions around town.

Free Laundry: You can use our laundry room freely.

Free Tours: We’ll take you on tours and rides around town. For free!

Free Hiking Tours: We’ll take you on excursions and hikes around town. For free!

Pick Up: We will pick you up when you arrive, and take you to our property.

Language lessons: Take free language classes at our place.

Use our equipped kitchen: Feel free to use our kitchen and make your own delicious food.

Certificate: Get a certificate of completion after you finish your experience.

Beginner English or Intermediate Spanish

Over 18 years old

Accepts solo applications and also couples and pairs

Program Details

At the zoo there are more than 100 Peruvian amazonical and andean species of animals like pumas, lions, peruvian bears, panthers, snakes, condors and others.

As a volunteer you will support the local staff with feeding the animals, giving them medical assistance, cleaning their cages, rescuing them from mistreat and giving them a proper shelter. Other tasks that might occur occasionally are helping to maintain the area in general, doing gardening, building, painting, drawing, designing banners, guiding groups and making workshops, activities and shows for children and visitors.

For participating in that project at least 4 hours of working every weekday are required. It can be chosen if the workhours should take place in the morning or in the afternoon.

This non-refundable fee also assures your place with us, since the dates you’ve chosen will be reserved and respected, unless you need to change those dates for which you just need to let us know at least a week in advance and we’ll arrange the necessary modifications.
