The best expirience in my life! Matt is awesome, his intelligent and he can do everithing. He show me his lifestyle and is was very interesting. He is very kind and a very good cooker, everything organic and from his farm, the place was amazing, in the middle of the jungle, beautiful. I am reallly missing the place, the peace, and Matt, he can teach you english and many homemade things, and many places, he show me Amazing paths and waterfalls. Hope to come back!

This experience was life changing for sure. Mat is a really good person and host! Get ready to eat a lot of local and delicious food. II realized that we live with way more than we need and harvesting your own food is essential to realize that. For tasks, I helped opening coconut and extracting the meat and coconut milk. It was the best coconut ever! I also helped harvesting fruits and removing weed. Mat is open but is important to communicate with him about what he expects from you, otherwise you can feel a bit lost. Best wishes to Mat and Illeo, aloha! 💙

I know I have a freeform style that is hard sometimes. I can work on putting tasks on paper, it would probably help. Much Aloha and all the best out there. My time with Matt from the beginning was very welcoming! He showed me the many ways that the locals like to spend their free time and showed me the true ways of knowing how to live on the island. I was able to get to know a lot about him and other people who reside there and was able to learn about their interests. This is a great experience for someone who is willing to learn and adapt to other types of work, cultures, and different environments. I am very grateful for the memories I was able to make here at the project hope that I can return once again in the future!

Working with Mat I learned so much about processing fruits from scratch into delicacies . I also learned that a lot of things I am used to are not that necessary. The farm isn't too big and doesn't get overly sunny, which makes weeding more fun, even though mosquitoes can be scary before sunset. Thank you Mat for being authentic, all the good laughs, and your kind heart. I will wish you, Mitts, and Illo the best. Ps if your are travelling from out side USA, Straight Talk is the best for signal coverage in this area.

I had an amazing experience in Hawaii with Matt. He is generous, open-minded and just super nice! I felt safe, and I also had a great time with the other Worldpackers. I strongly recommend it if you want to connect with wild nature and learn about permaculture.

My week with Matt has been an intense and grateful experience. He made me feel welcome and made sure that I felt comfortable living off grid. He lives in a tiny paradise, and I could learn a lot about just living from the land. Matt enjoys cooking for you and he reapects the time you need to get settled and what you want to work with during the day! If you want to take a break from society this is definitly a great place!

What a incredible experience! Matt was an amazing host. He made my roommate and I feel at home right away. He's an amazing cook and incredibly knowledgeable when it comes to the island and his beautiful property in Laupāhoehoe. We learned so much about what grows on the island and how to harvest, prepare, and preserve it. Matt is quite the fisherman and showed us how to break down the fish and cook it. We were able to help with harvesting fruits and vegetables, cleaning out some garden space, or doing some work to keep the valley clean. Highly recommend to anyone and everyone.

My friend Vincent and I stayed with Matt for about 10 days and we were blown away with hospitality. The amount of different foods he made, picked, and caught for us was outstanding. We basically ate everything from off the island besides a few meals we had in Kona/Hilo. The point where we stayed was amazing and everyone was super friendly. We did some stuff around the area and helped out Matt with some farming activities mostly. It was overall a great experience but definitely gotta be outdoorsy! Make sure you're okay with camping in the woods! Vincent and I are both avid campers! :) Thanks!
