Come help out and volunteer at our surf hostel this season. We work as a big family, keeping the hostel clean and nice, and making a good atmosphere for our guests. We give you accommodation close to the beach and a super sweet environment. Maybe this is the chance to learn to surf you have been waiting for?!

Learning & Fun

I had a nice time at 7 Waves. There was a relaxed atmosphere and I was left to use my own initiative most of the time, which I liked. Probably because it was very quiet though; I imagine high season would be different. The owner was away most of the time I was there but when he was around he was very accommodating. The local area is lovely with great beaches!

The hostel is not far from the beach ,which is more than beatiful.A surfer's heaven.I was there in october and the weather was much better than i expected, plus there were a lot of volunteers .I didn't have the chance to meet ricardo the woner while i was there, cause he was on a trip and i didn't really have surfing lessons, cause he's the teacher, but that didn't bother me much.Work was fair and not that difficult, plus in october you have less guests .Overall i think it was a nice experience,i kind of fell in love with portuguese people, who are really polite and warm, the sea and the city!

The place is a total mess and really badly run. The owner only accepts young girls and has had several relationships with some of the volunteers. When he’s in a bad mood he started yelling and blaming us for everything that went wrong at the hostel. The whole situation got worse because they are dealing with BEDBUGS for several weeks now, in the end we didn’t even have a place to sleep that was not full of bugs. He didn’t care to change so when we spoke up to him he kicked out two of the other girls in the middle of the night leaving them with no place to sleep for the night.

Ricardo is an amazing host and the team was like a family to me. Almost every new guest was a new friend and it was so much fun. Ricardo took the team and guests on trips to Lisbon, we organised bonfires and every Wednesday there was a party with other hostels! The shifts were longer, but because of this, we had more days off to go on really cool trips! The hostel is a gorgeous place, close to the beach and I learned how to surf here (so now I can go surfing by myself, instead of taking classes). I extended my stay twice, and if I had more time, I would definitely spend it at my second home.

My experience in general was great! the hostel is really cool and so is the hostel's team. The tasks were fun and easy to make. The only problem was that the staff had to sleep in a small room next to the kitchen, so you could hear the noises some times, but nothing that can not be fixed some way.
