Rodrigo and Viviana are both great people! I had a really fun time volunteering here.
The tasks at reception are easy to do and when you need help, they will always come with aid.
The beds were comfortable and room you stay in is very nice.

The town of Chetumal is small but a great base to be as there are so many things to do and see near the town.
Such as ruins, 7 colour lakes, local swimming and kayaking spots, Belize and so on!

Plenty of space within the hostel, lockers and AC in the rooms and the beds were also fairly comfortable.
Working hours were very flexible and when understaffed Rodrigo would do a chunk of the shifts himself, a kind person who led by example, this attributed to us staying an extra month! We loved the laidback family feel of the hostel!

We already miss The Downtown Hostel after a fantastic 2 months volunteering! Rodrigo is very accommodating and looks after volunteers really well. Also the best host for many rooftop barbeques! Viviana is super friendly and always willing to help. Just overall great people :) Reception was a great opportunity for us to learn Spanish, even though a lot of guests will speak English anyway. The work was never strenuous, there's a very relaxed vibe in the hostel. Chetumal is small but there are beautiful places to see and it was great to live like a local for a while. 100% recommend to anyone!
