The Experience

The concept of the hostel is to create an atmosphere to make everyone feel at home away from home, making new friends and good connection, creating spaces meet new people and share different experiences. We are looking for proactive volunteers that help us with reception and cleaning. We are the biggest hostel in Mendoza city, there are many activities and places around to visit like mountains and wineries.

During my time I volunteered at the hostel which will be closed soon. The Host tho was great! Really respectful with my time and shift and if I wasn't working I had my time off. Everyone welcomed me warmly and with little the hostel guests I was able to practice my spanish with the locals, guests and other volunteers! muchos gracias por todo :)

The most important thing is that the staff and the guests were always respectful, helpful and friendly to me. I truly appreciate and am grateful for the time I spent here. It is a lively place. There are many cats! I tested the limits of my comfort, which is a positive for me. For example, the room had no AC (not the case for women I believe), and it was about 18 m², including the bathroom, for 6 people. As for the tasks, I had to figure things out as days progressed, but they were not hard nor unreasonable. I don't recall receiving positive or negative feedback. I hope I did a good job!

My time at the hostel was great, location was incredible and the shifts pretty flexible. Nico was a great host. Breakfast consist in two pastries (typical of Argentina) but as a Mexican was not enough ahaha. I went in low season so the place was pretty chill and I was almost the only one outside of Argentina. Great to immerse myself in the culture but not that much to get to know other travellers. Thanks a lot for everything!

This was a really nice experience. There are plenty of other volunteers in the hostel so the work is divided evenly. There is a family feel to the hostel within the volunteers and workers, on some days the staff will cook lunch and eat it all together. I volunteered in May so it was low season, the hostel had less guests than would be earlier in the year but the hostel organises asados and different parties between two other hostels it works with which are held at either one of the hostels, this is nice because you get to meet other travellers and volunteers from the other hostels.

A lovely vibe amongst the volunteers and staff! During my first week Caro and Nico were very accommodating in organising the rota so that I could attend a Spanish school in the day. Lots of good evening activities to meet people as well as tasty food!
