All in all i did have a good experience with the other volunteers and the place. Porto Ottiolu is very beautiful. The ocean is 5 min away by foot. It was possible to lend the car of the guest house to explore the area. It's also possible to ride a scooter for the places around porto Ottiolu.I must say that negatives for me were a bit of uncomfort around Robertas father Arnaldo, communication with the guest house because of the language barrier and also staying the last two weeks alone. All in all the amount of work is low and easy so theres lots time to explore Sardinia.

Hi Fiona
thank you for your cooperation.
I am sorry too that you have been alone the last two weeks. It was also an inconvenience for me that VALENTINA cancelled at the last minute.
Good luck

The experience was good, the work isn't hard and very quick to learn and do, the volunteers who were with me are so great and friendly: Veronica, Bruna, Fiona and Valentina. One negative point is that the guest house wasn't there and all communication was by phone call. But there is Sir Arnaldo, the guest house's father and he is ready to give you a hand when you need it. And another negative point is that there aren't buses in the city Porto Ottiolu But just in Budoni what means that if you need take a bus you need to go to the next city that it's about 7 km. The place is wonderful!

Ciao David
sono contenta che ti sei trovato bene.
Si, il lavoro è leggero.
Lavorate circa 5 h a settimana.
Ciao e grazie

It was my first volunteer experience and the guest house's first time hosting. So a lot of first for both of us. Which can be challenging because I was unsure of what to expect. I wish the guest house had communicated that she was not in the country while hosting. So all of our interactions were online. With her not being here, there was a lot of miscommunication. Something important for future volunteers its very challenging to get to Ottiolu, you have to take a bus (which is inconsistent) from Olbia to Budoni, then WALK an hour to Ottiolu. I was fortunate b/c a volunteer working picked me up instead.

Roberta replied

Hi Veronica
I am glad that your first experience was positive.
Veronica I SUGGEST YOU TO CORRECT YOUR PROFILE, WRITE THE TRUTH ABOUT YOUR LANGUAGE SKILLS.
YOU SPEAK AND UNDERSTAND NOTHING OF THE ITALIAN LANGUAGE.
This is important because, if you are an Italian guest like me, you need to be able to work with a multi-million dollar company and not have to send it to me, which is why it is so important for me.
Mine is a small activity. The commitment required of volunteers is MINIMUM, about ONCE a WEEK, maximum TWICE, about 5/8 hours in total per week.
For this reason, WHEN I AM NOT PRESENT, MY FATHER IS THERE.
In any case, I prepare written ANCE instructions for VOLUNTEERS with NET IN ADVANCE:
porto ottiolu is located on the north-east coast of sardinia, a tourist coastline, WELL SERVED BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
THE LINES CONNECTING OLBIA TO BUDONI ARE 2 AND ARE FREQUENT WITH RIDICULOUS COSTS.
I INFORMED VERONICA OF THE MEANS OF TRANSPORT A FEW DAYS BEFORE HER DEPARTURE.
BUDONI IS 3 KM FROM OTTIOLU CURCA.
THE VOLUNTEERS DON'T HAVE TO WALK AT ALL BECAUSE I ALWAYS PICK THEM UP OR MY FATHER DOES.
So Veronica you were out of luck. This is the rule FOR ALL VOLUNTEERS.
FOR TOURS TO THE COAST, I ALLOW THE VOLUNTEERS TO ALSO HAVE A CAR.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMITMENT
