The Experience

We have a 10 acre farm growing orchids, coffee, cacao, dragon fruit and many fruit trees. Fridays are prepping orchids for shipping, Mondays are packing. The rest of the week what ever needs to be done! This is a beautiful farm, started in 1992. One mile from the quaint town of Pahoa on the Big Island of Hawaii

The accommodation is super comfy (hot shower and clean toilet), Christopher is a great chef, the work is very reasonable, I listened to Bruce Springsteen for the first time, ate a coconut for the first time, learned how useful tarp was, and got to spend all day outside in Hawaii which was awesome. If you like cats, outdoor kitchens and cool tools you will enjoy it here!

This was my first experience with Worldpackers and it was a really good one. Christopher took care of everything we ever needed and was very generous, cooked delightful meals and the work that was needed to be done was not too physically hard at all. I got to learn a lot, enjoy the beautiful farm and have a good time around the island as well. Highly recommended!

This was my first work exchange experience & I left it feeling truly spoiled— not only does the listing accurately describe the expectations of me as well as living/exchange conditions, I learned WAY more than I thought I might, ate & slept incredibly well in the process, & made a friend in Christopher, who is a true gem of a human, interesting, kind of a genius within his field and indeed a chef! Feel free to message me for more, but if you read this listing and feel like you could kick it/have good instinct about it, trust it because you're probably right. 🤙🏽

I had an awesome time on the farm! I stayed for a little over 2 weeks and had everything I needed. Christopher was a very welcoming host, made sure I was well taken care of, provided a good work/life balance, gave tons of recommendations of where to explore on the island, and is an A+ chef! The help around the farm is pretty standard! Every Monday is when orchids get packed into boxes to be shipped to customers. The rest of the time I was helping with watering plants, picking cacao, cleaning up the yard of fallen branches/coconuts, etc! Comfortable and private bedroom and bathroom!

We just left the farm and we already miss it. We spent two weeks there and it was an amazing time learning about tropical trees we've never seen before and having lots of fun discovering the area and the amazing Big Island. We will definitely come back when we have the opportunity. We consider Christopher our friend and we cant thank him enough the warm welcome and the facilities he gave us during our time there.
