I don't recommend this place! I left the hostel feeling undervalued and taken advantage of 😞 - I had to work at the bar by myself after only 1h of training, which was very intensive as I had no previous bar experience. I tried to talk and felt little openness from the hosts about it; - I asked to have some evenings off for kite lessons, but I felt little flexibility regarding the bar schedule and very little willingness for cooperation and finding common ground; - I recommend that a better meal be offered to the volunteers, I felt bad a few times and I imagine it was because of the food;

I didn't like this volunteer. The work didn't match the positon described on worldpackers. It was only cleaning instead of painting and handyman. The hosts didn't explain anything about the work at the beginning. Also, they were really inflexible about the schedule and the work in general. I don't speak spanish so that made it even worse for me. We tried to talk to the hosts but they didn't really collaborate to find a solution. This didn't meet my expectations and I had to leave early. I felt like I was wasting my time.

I wouldn't recommend this mission if you are looking for a real volunteering experience. In the hostel you are not treated like a volunteer, but more like a real staff and the schedule is not flexible. I think that they should take more time to explain the tasks (reception for example), because they let you deal with a lot of responsabilities alone, even if it is your first day. The obtention of the NIE is also really stressfull and you have to pay and carry out the administrative procedures alone. Apart from the tasks, the hostel is cozy, and the city of Tarifa is really cool.

I do not recommend this experience at all. The only positive thing about my time in this hostel was meeting amazing volunteers. I felt disrespected by a conceited attitude from the host while trying to discuss a more flexible time schedule. I felt unlistened to when I finished the given work 2h early and the host hurried to find some more work, that was unnecessary at that time, just to not let me finish early. I suggest that communication be more aligned and that dialogue be the way to adjust the agreement between volunteer and host. I always felt in impasse with the host.
